Get down and boogie with a Brooklyn Traffic Cop
Brooklyn traffic cop dances to the beat of New York City traffic. NYPD traffic agent Wilbert Castillo has been directing traffic and pedestrians under the Brooklyn Bridge for just over a year, always keeping everyone safe and in sync. Castillo, 47, a 10-year veteran of the force , says dancing on the job makes him more approachable.
Castillo has become quite ad icon and a new tourist attraction. his dancing not only makes his day go faster but his moving and grooving to the beat attracts hundreds of tourists and onlookers. It not as easy as it looks though on the unforgiving mean streets of the city .Castillo put in some long hard hours practicing in front of a mirror before he put his moves to the test and hit the pavement for all to see.
His spins and pivots are rhythmically timed to the changing lights, and he is often greeted by honks of horns.Castillo’s bosses recently moved him from Canal Street and Hudson to the intersection of Old Fulton Street and Hicks Street because the traffic there was so bad..With a shimmy and a shake and taking a step out of his arsenal of dance moves the 47-year-old native of Belize stepped up to the challenge and soon cleaned up the flow one move at a time..
