Billy Joel’s beautiful ex-wife Katie Lee has listed her townhouse in Perry Street. This townhouse was bought by the couple in 2006 for $5.9 million. If she gets the asking price, she stands to make a huge profit on this 4,000-square-foot, Nate Berkus–designed townhouse which is rumored to have a secret pool in the basement.

Katie Lee seems to have had an interesting and eventful life. From her days as a TV restaurant critic for PBS’ healthy lifestyles and cooking TV series, “George Hirsch: Living It Up” to her current fame as an authoress of a cookbook, it seems to have been quite a journey. Apart from critiquing food, she also worked in many restaurants and stores dealing in gourmet food and wine. The food website she created, OliveAndPeach.com, scarcely survived beyond a year.

Her next step towards limelight was in 2006 when she took on her role as the host of the first season of Top Chef. Thanks to the less than enthusiastic critical reception to her style of hosting the show she was replaced by the effervescent Padma Lakshmi.

She met Billy Joel when she was working for “George Hirsch: Living it Up!” and they married after dating for a year. After almost 5 years of marriage, Billy and Katie Lee separated in 2009, and she bought the townhouse from him for $3 million.

Located at 23 Perry Street, this townhouse has four bedrooms, and equal number of bathrooms and fireplaces, an elevator, and a landscaped garden. In fact, there is even a beautifully landscaped terrace off the master suite.

Apart from having been the scene of several fabulous and gourmet dinner parties, the kitchen in this townhouse is the same one that was used for Lee’s cookbook shoots. It comes with a six-burner Wolf stove in case you feel inspired to dish out some delicacies and a wine storage to house all the vintages to complement your great food.

The house has class and it has a history as well. We eagerly wait to see if the next set of occupants can match up to the colorful lives of the former ones.
