The grapevine is abuzz with the news of svelte actress Nicole Kidman and country pop singer hubby Keith Urban moving into a high profile section of New York City on the corner of 11th Avenue and West 24th Street. This recently constructed building in this locality has been designed by critically acclaimed Annabelle Selldorf. Of the 16 apartments in the building, 14 come with a private “En-Suite Sky Garage” measuring 300 square feet. All you have to do is drive your car into a huge key-lock elevator, and it lifts your car to the same level as the apartment you’ve deeded. Aint’ that a neat solution to the parking problems of the 21st century?

The exteriors of the building have been designed in stainless steel. The tower is clad in cast gunmetal glazed terracotta. It provides the residents with amenities, such as 24/7 attended lobby, cold storage for food deliveries, and a second floor fitness center with treatment room. The duplex unit bought by Nicole & Keith measures 3,248 square feet. It has three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms and two loggias that provide great views of the city.

Unlike most other duplex units you come across, the main living spaces are on the upper floor, not the lower one.  There’s a massive 20 by 22 feet living room that has views over the Hudson River. The dining room-cum-gourmet kitchen comes with folding teak panels that conceal all the kitchen equipment once you are done cooking. Beyond the dining room/kitchen, there is a huge study-cum-bedroom with a private bathroom and walk in closet. It opens on to one of the two covered loggias on the eastern corners of the duplex. A hallway connects the two loggias and it has a small powder room and more storage space. This hallway opens into the “En-Suite Sky Garage.”

A staircase from the living room takes you down to the lower floor which houses the guest bedroom with en-suite bathroom and the master bedroom with the dressing area, wall of closets, and the third full bathroom. The  master bathroom has been done up pretty stylishly with double sinks, French counter top, teak cabinetry and floors, separate glass enclosed shower, acid etched mirrors, and freestanding honed granite soaking tub.

According to reports, the couple has paid $10,000,000 for this prized address. However staggering a figure that might sound to you, it’s a lot better than the original asking price of $12,500,000. Nicole’s charm and beauty may well have been instrumental in knocking 20% off the listed price.
