It has been on and off the market for almost four years now, but it has finally been sold for $17,750,000. We are talking about the 6,600-square-foot co-op in the Brentmore at 88 Central Park west, that has been home and abode to Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler. This five-bedroom and four-bathroom duplex apartment was initially listed for an asking price of $24,900,000, but as you can see, it has gone for considerably less. The property has been bought by Michael S. Naify who, if rumors are to be believed, is from a prominent family in the Bay Area who once owned the United Artists Theater Company.

This apartment was originally two apartments that were combined by former owner Billy Joel and converted into the current two bedroom co-op it is. It was sold to Sting in the 1980s. The apartment has been listed as “newly renovated and restored to perfection” and it has plenty of touches that indicate towards the eccentricity typical of a rock star. An all-red master bedroom with gold and red embroidered fabric ceiling seems in keeping with the couple’s fondness for tantric sex – a fact that has made headlines more than once.

Even if you choose to ignore the completely dynamic bedroom, there are other details in the apartment that are sure to catch your eye. They are less shocking that the bedroom, of course, and you aren’t entirely dismissive of what Sting and Trudie have done with their apartment.

As the listing describes it, there are “French doors with original glass Transoms, a grand staircase, over-sized windows (all 28 of them), 11-foot ceilings and pristine parquet floors with mahogany inlay.” In addition, there’s also the “country kitchen that boasts wood cabinets, coral walls and a prep kitchen with a butler’s pantry?” and “the enormous marble bath, a sprawling library, private elevator and stunning views of Central Park.” And for those who feel the space crunch in New York and are always looking for storage options, there are more than 20 closets in this apartment. Sounds like just like the place you’d like to come back to after a long day of hard work.

After selling this apartment, the couple are headed towards their new illustrious address – 15 Central Park West Building, which has been made famous by other celebrity residents, such as Denzel Washington, NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon, and director Norman Lear. Sting bought this 16th floor 5,413-square-feet-with-a-405-square-foot-terrace apartment for a staggering $26.5 million. But, one couldn’t hope to have such an exclusive address for anything less than that!
