The gaming market is abuzz with excitement and a new member has come forward to change the way you play video games. Put your hands together for the new XBOX 360 Slim from Microsoft Corporation. As the name indicates, XBOX 360 Slim is a sleeker design and comes in that glossy black finishes which is so much in love with fingerprints and smudges.
The console stands 2.9 inches tall, has a width of 10.6 inches, and a depth of 10.4 inches deep. Just a little over 6 pounds in weight, the Xbox 36 Slim may not be a lot smaller than its predecessor but it is compact enough for you to feel the difference. Most of the buttons seen in the previous models are missing, and the ones that you can see have been made as touch pads.
The Kinetic motion detector pack in the new Xbox 330 Slim is probably the USP of the product. This is the newest technology introduced by Microsoft and it pretty much does away with the conventional need to press buttons to play a game. Rather, this technology relies on detection of motion of the gamer for providing him the gaming experience. The presence of the Kinect makes the device a pretty good buy.
Yet another feature of the Xbox 360 Slim that puts it on par with the PS3 is the inclusion of 802.11 b/g/n WiFi connectivity. If you have the earlier models, you needed to buy a WiFi adapter that could set you back by as much as $80 and above. The PS3 has had it since launch, but it is only now that Xbox 360 Slim has evened the playing field and caught up with its competition.
What do you get in the box? Along with the Xbox 360 console, there’s a black wireless controller, a black wired headset, a power supply and cord, two AA batteries, and a composite AV cable. If you are looking for an HD connection out of the box, you are in for a disappointment though. Microsoft has eliminated component cables as a standard add-in, so you’ll need to use either a separate HDMI cable or older Xbox 360 component wire for HD gaming.
We feel that the new design of the Xbox 360 looks absolutely fabulous. It is definitely a pleasant change from the previous models which were begging for an overhaul. However, looks aren’t the only things that are going to attract prospective buyers. There are a host of new features that are very attractive, such as the inclusion of WiFi, the quieter sound, and the 250GB hard drive. There’s every indication that the Xbox 360 Slim is going to be flying off the stands at a rapid speed.
