What do Chinese Ruffians. Unsightly Celebrity. Girl adrift. Vulnerable Narcissists. Humdrum Penetration have in common ? Nothing more than a sample of what you get when thirty filmmakers reflect on the single theme of UNPROTECTED.

On Saturday, February 27th, the Music Hall of Williamsburg screens UNPROTECTED, a series of 2 minute films by members of The FilmShop, formerly part of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective. Varied in style and genre, these shorts from the Brooklyn and newly formed Hong Kong chapters, present a wide response to the theme of exposed vulnerability.

More than just a film screening, the event includes special performances by Emanuel and the Fear and Hank and Cupcakes, followed by a DJ. The purpose of the party is to celebrate the conclusion of The FilmShop’s first season and the launch of their new website.

Brooklyn’s EMANUEL AND THE FEAR is an extraordinary 11-piece orchestra-rock band that focuses on intertwining the modern day pop song with extravagant and complex composition. In sum the band is a massively ambitious rock and roll orchestra.

The FilmShop is a varied group of independent filmmakers and media producers dedicated to developing new, groundbreaking work through collaboration and collective development. Together we workshop and incubate new work, share work and collaboration opportunities, identify broader audiences, find distribution opportunities and build partnerships with local, national and international organizations with aligning visions.
