If you are a fan of contemporary fine art, this is not an exhibition that you’d like to miss. From February 26 to March 19, Agora Gallery will display some of the finest talent in Japanese contemporary art in “The Matrix of the Mind: Contemporary Fine Art by Japanese Artists.” While not all the artists featured in the exhibition are from Japan, their work shows a definite influence from that quarter. Featured artists include Midori Kakino, Kyohei Kiyobe, Sachie Koyama, Nobuyuki Matsubara, Miyooon, Koki Morimoto, Iwasaki Nagi, Satomi Nishino, Dan OBANA, Umeko Okano, Rie Osogoe, Reiko Sakai, Tetsuo Takashima, and Saori Louise Tatebe.
For very long, Japanese art has been appreciated and cherished for its beauty, elegance and fluidity. Even in the 21st century, it continues to inspire artists and hold the attention of art lovers and connoisseurs from all over the world. Japanese art has been rightly described as “modern and yet timeless.” The exhibition at Agora Gallery captures the spiritual mind of the artists as they juxtapose it against a natural world.
Just to give you an idea, in this exhibition, you will get to see Dan Obana’s representation of the modern city as human beehive, Toshiko Nishikawa’s serene compositions, Kae Takashima’s watercolors, Naoyuki Okada’s poetic abstractions on rice paper, Buddhist images by Ryumei Murahashi and a combination of Parisian art and Japanese ornateness in the works of Dominic Lutringer. This is by no means an extensive list of what you will get to see once you are in the gallery. There will be more spectacular things for you to gaze at and you will leave a more enriched and enlightened individual when you leave the gallery.
Agora Gallery also publishes a magazine titled “ARTisSpectrum.” This bi-annual magazine is circulated among museums, art institutions, galleries, and art schools across the globe and provides collectors and artists, collectors, galleries, museums, and art organizations a platform to access the work of talented emerging and mid-level artists on a national as well as international scale. It also includes interviews, feature articles, and reviews.
