The Tribeca Grand Hotel is located in …well, Tribeca. You can make that much out from the name itself. If you compare it to the sister property sitting in SoHo – The SoHo Grand Hotel, you will find the Tribeca counterpart to be much smaller in size. However, that doesn’t make a lot of difference to the popularity of this 200+ room hotel which is considered to be among the most sought after boutique hotels in New York.
Location-wise, you couldn’t have had it better. Tribeca happens to be an exclusive and eclectic neighborhood and offers endless number of options in fashion, leisure, entertainment, nightlife, commerce, galleries, and museums. When you are at the Tribeca Grand, you are simply a stone’s throw from restaurants like Nobu, Chanterelle, and Bouley. And, in case you are bitten by the sightseeing bug, you have attractions such as Children’s Museum of the Arts, Museum of Chinese in Americas, New York City Hall, Chinatown, Little Italy, and Woolworth Building within yards of the hotel.
The hotel echoes the sentiment of the neighborhood it stands in. It is subtle yet luxuriously sleek; hip without being flashy; modern and yet so traditional. A sophisticated simplicity is evident in the red brick façade of the hotel which is decorated with signature cast-iron detailing.
When inside, you are greeted with a kind of tranquility which you may well have forgotten in the hustle and bustle of life. The central atrium soars above your head and opens onto guestrooms, the premier cocktail bar and restaurant, the Church Lounge, and the private film screening room that plays host to many a star-studded movie premieres.
The guestrooms sport a very 70’s look with their velvet couches, butterscotch walls, and chocolate leather chairs with white piping. You are provided with state of the art technology in the rooms along with gourmet mini bar and on demand movies. If you are here strictly on business, you will find the generous work space with the Herman Miller Aeron chair very useful. The bathrooms have weathered stainless-steel sinks and you can make use of the luxurious array of Malin+Goetz products.
If you are looking to unwind after a hectic meeting or a long trip, The Church Lounge, in the lobby, is where you want to be. It is one of the most in-demand bar and restaurant, and it is intensely fashionable to be seen in it. If you can’t be bothered to step out of your room, order in. And, curl up on the bed and relax…just relax!
