At one time, Angel’s Share used to be considered Manhattan’s best kept secret thanks to its rather puzzling location. You needed a treasure map to find the place, complete with clues and directions, but once you deciphered it and landed up here, it was well worth the effort. In fact, it was ranked number one in ZAGAT. That ought to be enough to pique your interest in Angel’s Share, if you haven’t already heard about it.
When you are able to find the bar, (it might be slightly tricky even today to reach this place without going wrong a few times) you might have some trouble getting the seats, especially during peak hours. The bar has a very strict policy against groups that have more than 4 people. What’s the policy? They don’t seat you. Period. So, make sure you choose only the closest of your friends when you go over to this place and keep the numbers below four. And, reach early.
Once in and seated you can relax and take in the cool sophistication of the place. The atmosphere is laid back and the service is prompt and courteous. There is usually a pianist playing in the background adding an extra touch to the atmosphere. If you are visiting during the winters, beg, borrow or steal the seats near the window and enjoy your drinks watching snowflakes floating down from the sky. Magical
Coming to what ought to be the main focus of this article – the drinks. The bartenders are experts – thorough professionals at what they do. There is an almost scientific reasoning behind the mixing of drinks and they serve stuff that has the most interesting flavors. From their grapefruit and gin concoction to the ginger-themed drink with apple cinnamon infused liquor; from the grasshopper to the lychee martini…everything is perfectly made and you are sure to order a second round of these drinks.
Whether you go alone, with a close friend, a romantic interest or college buddies, Angel’s Share gives you an experience that no ordinary bar in Manhattan can. Guess that’s why they are so famous.
