Films Announced for the 3rd Annual Love Actually: Short Films about Love, Sex & Romance
The third annual Love Actually: Short Films about Love, Sex & Romance, on Valentines Day from 7-10pm at the historic Millennium Film Workshop in New York City, NY.
This non-competitive film event featuring 11 short films from 12 brilliant independent filmmakers. The evening will begin with a pre-mixer with wine & cheese and end with a Q&A with some of the people involved in making the films being showcased, including former Oscar Nominee, Animator John Dilworth.
Here are thumbnail descriptions of each film:
How I Met Your Father (Alex Montoya)
Every couple has a story, some more romantic than others.
Lost Paradise (Mihal Brezis & Oded Binnun)
A man and a woman are tenderly making love in a one star hotel room. A moment later when they are both dressed up, the idyll that seamed authentic is now gone. A present-day Adam and Eve story.
Lucha (Maria Breaux)
Set in 1982 against the backdrop of the insurgency in El Salvador, Lucha traces the plight of two women in love whose only respite from the battles raging against their oppressive government is the solace found in each other’s arms.
Backwards (Aaron Hughes)
A love story so backwards, it has to be told in reverse.
Rinky Dink (John Dilworth)
A postmodern interpretation of the ‘Prince Charming’ myth
Coming Soon (Jeffery Engleson)
A romantic comedy about premature ejaculation.
True Beauty This Night (Peter Besson)
Last night, Rhett Somers met the love of his life. Now all he has to do is convince her she’s the one. Not an easy feat considering how they met..
Dating Rubik’s Cube (Saya Hillman)
Twelve people, from age 24 to 41, from teachers to investment bankers to musicians, from the single to the married to the divorced, from a variety of Chicago neighborhoods, get personal on all things relationships – 60 minutes of fast-paced dating vignettes.
Blind Date (Chris Ramos)
A love-damaged actress, who won’t admit she still yearns for the real thing, must eliminate the opposition to make love work on her terms.
Metamorphasis (Debra Zarne)
A man and a woman, encountering relationship problems, each go through a metamorphosis and take a chance on the other.
Thorndike (Chris Teague)
Todd, a quiet teenager, upsets his girlfriend on the last day they are to spend together before she moves away. Unable to accept her sunny disposition on what is, to him, a sad day, he rejects her, and instantly regrets it. To make it up to her he enlists his two best friends to help him execute a prank he’s sure she’ll appreciate. The prank does not go off as planned, but it is the struggle that allows him to understand what he really needs to say to his girlfriend before she leaves.
All films will be shown at the historic Millennium Film Workshop, 66 East 4th Street, New York, NY. Festival tickets are currently on sale on-line at www.scenepr.com/short-films or love3.eventbrite.com. Tickets will be $10. No tickets will be sold at the door.
