It seems to be that time of the year when beauty and fashion campaigns announce their fresh face models and beauty ambassadors for fall campaigns.
Interestingly enough, of these four recent announcements, two are actresses and two models are named. Is the fashion industry creating stars of its own again? Quite possibly. But that doesn’t mean celebs won’t stop repping either.
Natalie Portman will be the newest face for Parfums Christian Dior. While it’s unconfirmed as to which fragrance she’ll represent, she is an A-lister who will follow in steps of Charlize Theron (who did J’adore) and Sharon Stone (who did Poison). Fashionista forecasts she’ll represent Miss Dior Cherie considering the scent hasn’t had an ad campaign since Sofia Coppola’s commercial starring Maryna Linchuk back in 2008. Of course, it is possible Dior could be launching a new scent.
The timeless supermodel Linda Evangelista just inked a deal with Talbots. The brand is re-shaping its image under the guidance of Chief Creative Officer Michael Smaldone. Last week Evangelista shot the new fashion ad campaign at Jack Studios in Chelsea with the talented photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Keep in eye out for these ads to surface in September issues of fashion magazines.
Mark Beauty recently announced Ashley Greene, who plays the spunky Alice in The Twilight Saga, as their new fresh face and beauty ambassador (previously Lauren Conrad rep’d the beauty company). This is the first signed beauty deal for the 23-year-old Greene who enthusiastically told WWD, ‘what really sealed the deal was [Mark's] empowering message to young women, which is something I relate to, ‘ referring the company’s m.powerment fund which helps raise awareness to end the cycle of dating abuse and violence.
‘It girl’ Laura Stone is making headlines as Calvin Klein just announced her as their model for its three brands: Calvin Klein Jeans, ck Calvin Klein and Calvin Klein Collection. This is the first time in years the brand will be using one hotty to endorse all three brands. Keep a look out for Calvin Klein’s fashion campaigns this fall.
