Besides being the name of my bestie, I love the Gemma at the Bowery Hotel. I don’t love that you cannot make a reservation with out being a guest of the hotel, but everything else I love. The food is yummy. They have a great wine list and there is lots of good people watching. The best part, I have to say is the decor. I don’t frequent restaurants for just their decor but I am absolutely attracted to places based on how they inhabit the space. Gemma does an excellent job of transplanting you to an old-world trattoria in Italy.
I recently met a girlfriend there and she thought she scored by getting a table rather quickly, but it was so close to the door, I nearly froze. Nonetheless, our Italian, hottie waiter made up for it with his attentive service and great recommendations. And he really was deliciously handsome with an accent to boot. I was pleasantly surprised as I hadn’t heard too many good things about their service but still had to check it out. I ordered the filet and was very pleased. My friend ordered the chicken which is her fav and all was well. I did think it was a little pricey but there isn’t much excitement that can be had in this precious city without dropping some notable cash. The Bowery Hotel – 335 Bowery at 3rd Street
