The 36th Annual Official NYC Halloween Parade After Party at Webster Hall . Considered by many as America’s first nightclub, Webster Hall is located in the heart of New York City’s East Village, at 125 East 11th Street, between 3rd and 4th Avenues. It acts as a nightclub, concert venue and hosts corporate events, as well as a recording venue and has a capacity of 2,500 people .
Webster Hall was originally built in 1886 by architect Charles Rentz and quickly became the country’s first modern nightclub. During Prohibition era, the theme of the balls held within the hall moved from the social and political trends to a more hedonistic attitude of a speakeasy. On May 1st, 1980, The Ritz opened on the site becoming a famous showcase venue for emerging and underground punk rock and new wave acts.In March 2008, a landmarks proposal was submitted by the Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation, and the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate the building Landmark status.
A history of notable acts have played the club including: Nine Inch Nails, Bright Eyes, The Roots, John Mayer, Rhett Miller,Duran Duran, Beth Orton, Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, Pink, The Jesus And Mary Chain, +44, The Bravery, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Mogwai, Spoon, Rollins Band, John Butler Trio, Explosions in the Sky, The Flaming Lips, Dispatch, Linkin Park, Green Day, Infected Mushroom, DeVotchKa and Lady GaGa.
The 36th Annual Official NYC Halloween Parade After Party is billed as the biggest Halloween party in the World. You can dance and party with your demons, ghouls and goblins in the pale moon light. The smoke filled dance floors become a madhouse of thrill and adventure. There is a $5,000 cash Costume Contest The costume categories are: 1. Scariest 2. Sexiest 3. Funniest 4. Most original/wild card.
