The London is one of Manhattan’s most recognizable and comfortable hotels, situate right in the midst of the glamorous district. The location of this Midtown West Hotel is virtually unbeatable: Fifth Avenue, the famous shopping district, is one block away; Broadway is a mere two blocks away; and Times Square and Central Park are nearby too. In all, every major attraction and facility in Manhattan is within reach. Besides its excellent location, the hotel offers other advantages too. It houses one of the most famous restaurants in the city, and most of its guests rate its 562 luxury suites very highly. Besides, the hotel cannot be missed, since it is amongst New York City’s tallest hotels.
The well-lit and neatly laid out lobby is reminiscent of a classic luxurious London home, and the suites only reinforce the impression of sophisticated yet discreet elegance. The guestrooms feature velvet banquettes, dark leather desks, swieling tables, mildly colored oak floors and plush beds draped with Egyptian cotton bedding and hand-woven covers. The combination of chic style and luxurious comfort has won the favor of some illustrious guests. The entire décor is the work of famous hotel designer, David Collins.
There are various kinds of suites available at the hotel, and the common advantage is that they are all very spacious, offering 500-550 square feet of private space to the guests. The facilities in the room include iPod docking stations, wired and wireless internet connections, a DVD player and an LCD TV with cable/satellite channels. There is 24 hours room service, and the hotel offers several other top-class services such as a business center with the latest facilities, translation services, a famed global concierge service, a state-of-the-art fitness center with a highly qualified personal trainer, and babysitting and childcare services.
The hotel has two restaurants managed by the famous, award-winning English chef Gordon Ramsay. The major one, serving French cuisine, is simply known as Gordon Ramsay, and it offers a very sophisticated formal dining experience to 44 guests at a time. It has a quiet, intimate ambience and the wine list is extensive. Since this restaurant is extremely popular, it is necessary to reserve a table well in advance. The other one, Maze, is a more informal set-up, can accommodate more people, and the cuisine available here is French-inspired Asian. Getting a table here is a lot easier. Guests can even order their food to their rooms from either restaurant. The London Bar is the place for breakfast, coffee in the mornings, or traditional afternoon tea. It also offers a selection of cocktails that go best with its menu.
According to the latest updates on the hotel’s own website, (www.thelondonnyc.com), suites are available from $359 per night. Keeping in mind all the facilities, services, convenience and luxury available here, there is hardly any guest here who ends up complaining about this hotel’s value.
