Born Eric Torres’ , Deejay Toro’s career began at the early age of 16 in the Coney Island Projects of O’dwyer Gardens in Brooklyn, NY where he discovered a natural fit behind the turntables at teenage house parties. With early inspiration from Glenn Fricia and DJ Skribble, Deejay Toro would record their legendary sets on the radio and listen to the tracks repeatedly to better emulate their skills. Toro also grabbed inspiration form the Chicago house music scene and Bad Boy Bill to learn the art of scratching.
At 19, DJ Toro captured the attention of a New Jersey premiere nightlife destination, Hunka Bunka, and he was brought in as the youngest resident to ever step into their booth. Toro’s residency at Hunka Bunka laid the cornerstone for his career as he then landed a three-year residency at the world-famous D’Jais in Belmar, NJ where club-goers across the tri-state fell in love with this self-proclaimed, “Puerto Rican-Whiteboy”.
His diverse style of mixing genres of house, rock and hip-hop including customized production left nightlife venues craving more. His big move cam as the Premiere NY/NJ deejay crew, the DJ Kings, recognized him and quickly brought Toro on board to join Konvict Music’s DJ Mad and Davis S, producers of club-banger “Put Your Drinks Up”, radio-superstar DJ Alex Sensation, and the late Carl Blaze. It seems the merger of Deejay Toor and the DJ Kings was a match made in haven. Surrounded by a top notch crew his skills in the both grew at an astonishing rate .
Toro is now rocking the dance floors with residencies at Northern New Jersey’s hotspots like 118 Lounge and Bliss and continues to make a presence on the other side of the tunnel with guest spots at Sol, Myst, GuestHouse, Prime and the Grand in New York. Toro’s growth as a turntable mixmaster and consistent following of fanfare has most recently landed him residencies at the legendary Pacha nightclub.
Deejay Toro can now be found by tuning in each and every Saturday Night to 92.3Now fm from 11pm to 3am with his live NYC Mixshows! The show also features special guest DJ’s like Lil Cee , Beatbreaker and David S.
