What are the most important facts that you need to know about the Greenwich Hotel? Well, for starters, it has a celebrity co-owner, none other than the veteran actor Robert De Niro. Now that he has established TriBeCa as a much vied New York destination with his restaurants and film festival, he’s taken it into his head to expand the empire a little bit.
Every effort has been made to wow you. The hotel building is crafted with handmade bricks and reclaimed wood, and the furniture used has been bought from flea markets and antique stores throughout the world! Impressed already? There’s more. Every terracotta and marble tile of the hotel’s lobby’s is hand-molded and there is a Turkish travertine in the courtyard.
But what about the services that are provided to the patrons of the Greenwich hotel? It takes more than oomph and jazz to please the guests, you know. Apparently, Robert De Niro knows that too, and the hotel impresses you with its values of discretion and privacy; values that are lost on other boutique hotels. Along with that you have the highest order of comfort and services that are as impeccable as they make them. What more could you ask for? Oh yes, comfortable rooms!
So, moving on to the guestrooms – you’ll find that no two of the 88 guestrooms are similar. They are all individually furnished and decorated. Exclusivity is the keyword here. The bedrooms are fitted with Carrara marble, Moroccan tile, and Tibetan silk rug. All the rooms are spacious and quiet; some of them even have views of the Hudson River views.
Beds are equipped with signature bedding, down comforters, and Egyptian cotton linens. In the bathrooms you’ll find bathrobes, slippers, makeup/shaving mirrors, and designer toiletries. Other room amenities include 42-inches plasma televisions with premium cable/satellite channels, complimentary wireless Internet access, direct-dial phones, and nightly turndown service.
If you feel the urge to unwind and relax, you can walk over the Japanese-inspired spa that includes a pool surrounded by a 250-year-old Japanese farmhouse that has been assembled without using a single nail. If you think that’s amazing, wait till you choose some of the body treatments they offer you. Absolutely divine!
Greenwich Hotel also has an onsite restaurant, Locanda Verde, which is headed by chef Andrew Carmellini. He dishes up absolutely mouthwatering high-end Italian food. Try some of their wood-fired rabe sausage or roasted garlic chicken, yum, yum; it’s a heavenly trip for your taste buds.
The Greenwich Hotel doesn’t boast of the most centralized location, but maybe that’s the whole point. Away from all that noise and hustle bustle, and tucked away in a quite spot in TriBeCa – it’s like a world of your own. You are in New York, and yet, somehow not quite in it.
