Located in the heart of charming NoLita, Poppy has established itself as the go to neighborhood style boutique. Owner Leslie McKeown hand picks pieces that reflect the season’s trends most stylishly. She has a great eye for up and coming designers as well as for finding vintage accessories. Since Poppy’s opening in 2003, fashionistas keep returning for it’s sweet and feminine fashions.
The one-room store evokes the same charm as the clothing it sells. Here, fashion isn’t just in the clothes, it’s also in the object art and home furnishings used to display the merchandise. Bright lights and white walls command a friendly vibe while retro chandeliers, antique armoires, and toile wallpapered dressing rooms contribute to vintage inspiration. Organized racks of tunics and dresses and table tops of folded denim and T-shirts welcome shoppers to browse.
Poppy is stocked with local and well known designers. Fashion lovers can find flirty dresses by Madison Marcus, Ulla Johnson, and Karta, tops and blouses by Otis & Maclain, silk skirts by Rory Beca, and boyfriend blazers by Madison Marcus. Spendid T’s and J Brand jeans are always stocked. Poppy is currently selling J Brand’s army green skinny cargo pants and I’m having trouble resisting!
Accessories are also unforgettable. There’s an assortment of shoes including Loeffler Randel heels and Twelfth Street wedges that are irresistible. Purses, including Rebecca Minkoff leather bags, sit on shelves. Displayed in glass cases, jewelry by Moss Mills and necklaces by Jules Smith are easy on the eyes. You can also find vintage belts, bags, and Poppy’s own scarves perched on shelves. The store is truly a shoppers paradise.
Come take a look for yourself. Poppy is located at 281 Mott Street between Houston and Prince. Closest subway stops 6 Spring | B D F V Broadway-Lafeyette. Boutique is open Monday-Sunday noon-7pm.
