No need to relentlessly track down your size or must-have Zara item anymore. Finally, the Spain-based retailer is embracing shopping online. Starting September 2nd, Zara will be launching e-commerce to Europe, specifically Spain, the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Portugal before extending it’s e-shopping to the U.S. in 2011.
Pablo Isla, CEO and Deputy Chairman of Zara’s parent company Inditex, confirmed the launch to investors, adding e-commerce is “an important strategic step, in line with Inditex Group’s constant daily search to offer the best service to clients worldwide.”
This is going to translate to alot of happy shoppers.
So, why can’t H & M get their U.S. e-shopping act together as Zara and TopShop have? Apparently H & M already has e-commerce for the likes of Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Norway, and Holland. A spokesperson told Stylist that their approach to the U.S. is different: “Since our launch in the U.S. market in 2000, we have focused our efforts on building new stores and are proud to have opened almost 200 stores to date. We are aware of the great interest in online shopping and we look forward to the possibility of offering this service to our U.S. customers in the future.”
