The Ambassador’s Ball is a fundraising gala that is attended by the United Nations Ambassadors from various countries around the world, as well as other dignitaries from the New York and United States.

The Hospitality Committee for the United Nations Delegations, Inc. (HCUND) is an all-volunteer organization that has been serving the families of delegates to the United Nations for 56 years.The volunteers provide an array of services and programs, including English Language classes, which assist families of the UN diplomats to adjust to their new life in New York. The HCUND the only organization of this kind working within the United Nations.

The importance of this organization to the well-being of the United Nations diplomatic community cannot be underestimated. The Ambassador’s Ball helps to preserve and support this vital nonprofit organization while, at the same time, highlighting the work of the United Nations in front of a prominent New York audience.

The Ambassador’s Ball is the diplomatic scene’s most prestigious fundraiser and was held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Cipriani on 42nd with a live auction by Christie’s. The Ball is Chaired by Dr. Nassrin Iromloo Zahedi .Over 300 ambassadors and other guests attended this black tie event to benefit the Committee. There was also be a kick-off party hosted by the junior committee .

Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and Mrs. Ban Soon-taek were honored guests this year’s Ball .Other past honorees include Nelson Mandela, Tony Bennett, former Secretary-General and Mrs. Kofi Annan, Walter Cronkite, Mrs. Nelson Rockefeller and Ted Turner , among others.
