This Friday May 21st through Sunday May 23rd 2010. The opening party will be held Friday evening with tours held all day Saturday and Sunday, ending with a closing party on Sunday evening.
The Hell’s Kitchen Artist in Studio Tours will feature tours of Hell’s Kitchen local homes, businesses and art studios open their venues to host performers and artists for a weekend showcasing the creativity of artists living and working in the dynamic and historic Hell’s Kitchen community – in the heart of Manhattan! Free, self-guided tours showcasing artists and performers met in their homes, studios, galleries, theaters, gardens and businesses.
This weekend is the free opening and closing party Friday and Sunday night, for artists and public to mingle.The event features: Individuals with well established and honored careers, as well as emerging artists. All mediums will be represented: including painting, sculpture, photography, murals, theater, music, dance, comedy, video, performance art and much more. Notable artists include: Scott Goodwillie, Nandi Riguero, Jill Slaymaker, John Monteiro, Alex and Gloria Schloss.
Venues on board, to name a few include: Fountain Gallery; Jim Seffens Studio; Mud, Sweat and Tears; two Chashama locations; and apartment studios in the Manhattan Plaza buildings.This event is hosted by HK: ArtiST, a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization.
The self-guided tours will be held throughout Hell’s Kitchen, between 34 AND 59 Streets, roughly from 8th Avenue Westward.
