Beyonce Knowles launched a beauty school on Friday during a special visit to Phoenix House in Brooklyn New York on Friday. The beauty school is named Beyonce Cosmetology Center.
While speaking during the opening ceremony, the 28 year old actress-singer gave the reasons why she chose to fund the center. One big reason is that she believes all women should learn some skills, which would give them hope even after Phoenix House.
She further said that as she had grown up around a beauty salon, which was owned by her mother, she felt that the salon acts as a place where women can socialize, share stories, get advice etc. She said that she was inspired to open this center after seeing the joy, which her mother got from the fact that she was transforming the women into independent women.
Phoenix House president and CEO Howard Meitiner who spoke as well said that the House was very thrilled when Beyonce and her mother approached them for creating a cosmetology center for the House’s clients. He said that due to this life-changing gift of Beyonce and her mother, the clients of Phoenix House have been given a route to achieve satisfactory and rewarding lives.
Beyonce came to know about Phoenix House, which is a non-profit provider of substance abuse treatment and prevention services when she was preparing for the character of Etta James in the movie Cadillac Records. Before coming up the with the idea of a cosmetology program she had donated her entire fees from the movie to the center

Beyonce is crazy talented. Beyonce dresses like no-one else. Girl can really pick the best looking clothes for her! Beyonce is a lady who behaves really well.. seriously I saw her in public with my own eyes. How can anyone hate Beyonce I just dun understand the negative comments I read sometimes. I wish Beyonce was my best friend she is such a divine creature to be with Im sure!
