While LeBron James contributed with a modest 22 points, Cleveland used a 74 point first half to beat the visiting New York Knicks 124-93.

The win gave Cleveland its eighth straight win again the Knicks, who have not beaten the Cavaliers since a match up in New York on December 19th, 2007.

James led all scorers with his 22 points, including 7 assists and 7 rebounds.  Coming off the bench for the Knicks, Bill Walker had a career best 21 points to lead all New York scorers.  Tracy McGrady was held to only 6 points and 5 assists.

For the Knicks, no real positives came out of this game.  By the time the game went into the 4th quarter, Cleveland had already built up a 101-59 lead. The Knicks now have a record of 8-19 on the road, and are a lowly 2-13 in their last 15 games.  While the win was great for Cleveland, they received bad news regarding Shaquille O’Neal.  “Shaq” is expected to be sidelined for the next 8 weeks following surgery on his right thumb.  For Cleveland and their NBA best 26-4 home record, several players will be looking to step up as the playoffs are just over a month away.

With an overall record of 20-39, and sitting 13th in the NBA’s Eastern Conference, the Knicks sit 8 ½ games out of a playoff spot.  The Knicks will now travel home for a date with the Detroit Pistons at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night.
