Former champ Kobayashi busted trying to rush stage at Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest

Hot-dog-devouring legend Takeru “The Tsunami” Kobayashi after the iconic competitive eater was banned from yesterday’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest after he tried to rush the stage.The Six-time Nathan’s champ Kobayashi rushed the stage esterday after eating machine Joey “Jaws” Chestnut of San Jose, Calif., won his fourth consecutive Nathan’s title.

Kobayashi, of Japan, was barred from the competition due to a contract beef with Major League Eating, which organized yesterday’s competition.He was charged with resisting arrest, trespassing and obstruction of governmental affairs., Fans chanted, “Let him eat! Let him eat!”the the police arrested

Kobayashi, who had been watching the action feet from the stage,and was trying to grab the microphone before cops took him down.”It was extremely unfortunate and a little bizarre,” said, Major League Eating Chairman George Shea.Kobayashi, 32, was hauled off wearing a “Free Kobi” T-shirt a sentiment he and man of his fans had been proclaiming for days to protest his exclusion from the contest.

Later, a handcuffed and smiling Kobayashi was led out of the 60th Precinct station house on his way to Central Booking.Chestnut put away 54 dogs and buns coasting to an easy victory and as they say in competitive eating relished his win, but he fell short of his record of 68.Despite Kobayashi absence Chestnut says he is still top dog .
