Club Quarters Incorporated is a company which is opening a hotel called the World Center Hotel on the edge of ground zero i.e.- the site of the 9/11 attacks.
Although people might see the site where the World Trade Center once stood as a place of death and sorrow, Cheryl Palmer, Vice-President of Club Quarters begs to differ.
She states that people choose to come to ground zero, as they want to be close to the place where the tragedy occurred and they want to remember. Although she admits that, there are many confliction emotions in play but she feels that at the end of the day a person’s last thought would be that of the rebuilding taking place.
The hotel offers an open-air patio, which overlooks the construction work going on at the site where the WTC towers once stood. Reservations have been started since last month with some rooms having windows from floor to the ceiling, which directly oversee the construction work going on. It appears that World Center hotel is the first hotel nearby this area, which is using its proximity to Ground Zero as a strategy to attract more people.
People though had differing opinions. Mr. Josh Rowlands who came all the way from Adelaide to see Ground Zero said he was relieved to be able to see what is happening at the site after travelling such a long distance.
Some of the others weren’t that interested that they would want to include this particular hotel in their travel plans. As Mr. Michael Meindorfer from Germany said, it was just too depressing and sad to see the site everyday.
