Despite missing the services of Tony Parker who was on the sidelines due to a broken hand Spurs showed that they still had enough firepower. Manu Ginobili had another great game on Wednesday against the Spurs by scoring 30 points for the second game running.

With 28 points and 5 assists Ginobili did his best to make Spurs and their opponents forget about Parker. He sat out in the 3^rd quarter and Spurs saw their lead being cut down to single digits and make just six shots compared to eight turnovers. However, Knicks couldn’t sustain their momentum and the Spurs finished with a comfortable 97-87 verdict.

Less than two minutes into the second half when Spurs had got a 15-point lead they endured a scoreless period of 5 minutes and 24 seconds. Add to that, no field goal for the Spurs in the last 5 minutes of the third quarter and things dont seem too rosy for the team anymore.

New York Knicks had a horrible night as far as their long range shooting went as they managed to shoot just 40 percent, which was 31 out of 77. Knicks guard Tony Douglas said that the final nail in their coffin was when Ginobili shot a 3 pointer to obtain a 7 point lead with 2 minutes remaining.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich underlined the importance of momentum when he said that at times teams aren’t able to make shots but have to hang on to the game to keep the momentum going. Spurs have won 6 out of their last 8 games although in the game against Knicks they managed to win narrowly instead of dominating the Knicks.
