Jerry Seinfeld knows better than most on the parking woes of New York. After all he made the shortage of parking a permanent fixture in his 1990’s sitcom Seinfeld.

He had once stated that the automobile kept producing new cars when the real need was more space to park the cars. He further likened the parking spaces to musical chairs, as there weren’t enough parking spaces for everybody.

Seinfeld has now been caught up in a parking scandal of his own which seems as if it’s a script from his show itself. According to reports, Seinfeld when coming to his studio to record his new series The Marriage Ref, parked his car in front of the studio using an expired police parking permit. An alert reporter noticed the expired permit and questioned Mayor Michael Bloomberg who said he had no idea about how the card.

New York residents regularly voice concerns about abuse of police permits by celebrities and public officials. Police recently promised to crack down after a bomb scare on New Year’s Eve occurred when a van left un-noticed for two days because it had a placard from the police association.

The New York Police Department swung into action and called an investigation into Seinfeld’s parking privileges.

This is not the first time that Seinfeld has been in problems over parking. He spent $2 million to convert a building in the Upper West Side of Manhattan into a private garage for his collection of Porsches, which caused uproar from his neighbors.
