Patrick Kaleta of the Buffalo Sabres scored the Overtime winner 2:22 into the extra frame to defeat the Rangers 2-1 at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night.

The low scoring game did not see its first goal until Adam Mair of the Sabres scored with just under 6 minutes remaining of the 3rd period.  The Rangers were able to tie the game one a piece thanks to a goal by Brandon Dubinsky with 1:23 left in regulation.

The Rangers were satisfied by earning a point in the game; however, they have lost 3 straight games, with a win-loss-OT loss record of (0-1-2) in that span.

Goalie Ryan Miller of the Sabres was solid in the win, making 35 saves for his efforts.  Henrik Lundqvist of the Rangers made 30 saves in taking the loss.

The New York Rangers currently sit in 9th place of the NHL’s Eastern conference, 2 points behind the 8th place Boston Bruins for the final playoff spot.  With 16 games remaining, and a condensed schedule due to the Olympic break, the Rangers will be looking to put some wins together in hopes to qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs.  Coach John Tortorella has recently mentioned that his team will need find consistency in scoring goals.

The Rangers will be on the road for the next couple games when they visit the New Jersey Devils on tonight, then off to Atlanta with a game against the Thrashers on Friday.  New York’s next home game will be on Sunday at 3:00pm against the Philadelphia Flyers.
