New York administration is thinking to charge for shooting its lovable sights. Whether they are movies or TV serials, the producers may have to stump up a small amount for permissions to film on the streets of city. However, it is not a big amount for big projects i.e. just $300 once for any production- a TV show, movie, commercial or a music video. TV serials would have to apply in every season for shooting. So now movie makers seeking to shoot the movie in New York City will have to add a little more to their budget.

The permissions from City Hall which have always been free now will be paid by the producers. The MOFTB (Mayor’s Office of Film, Theater and Broadcasting) is going on to propose a fee of $300 for shooting applications. All this will be done for the sake of slackening budget complexities of the city. The spokesperson for the MOFTB said,” With the city facing unprecedented budget challenges, the money raised will be used to meet budget cuts.” However, there may be some relief for low budget projects as the MOFTB will not apply a permit fee in cases of “unreasonable hardship.”

The Wall street Journal when asked Mayor Michael Bloomberg that the proposal of charging fee can contradict to his hard work to allure new businesses, he replied that the proposed amount was too small to bang the decisions of Hollywood business.

A report claims that it will take a 30-day comment period and a public hearing for the proposed permit application fee to come in effect.
