What if we told you there were cookies—free cookies—from the chef behind one of the most popular restaurant in New York?
Well, that’s exactly what we’re telling you. ‘Witchcraft, the high-end sandwich chain from Tom Colicchio, will be offering complimentary cream’wiches and half price tea from 3-6 pm until April 4th at all locations. Consider it a resurrection of snack time.
Colicchio, co-founder of the Gramercy Tavern and force behind the Craft restaurants and chef behind the stunning new three-starred Colicchio & Sons, also makes sandwiches, and damn good ones at that.
‘Witchcraft serves breakfast and lunch in stylishly minimal store fronts and stands strategically placed across the city (as well as in San Francisco and Las Vegas). In the morning, go for the Greek yogurt with homemade granola or a fried egg sandwich with bacon, Gorgonzola and frisée on a ciabatta roll. At lunchtime, grilled Gruyere with caramelized onions on rye bread is a grownup’s grilled cheese. A meatloaf sandwich layered with cheddar, bacon and tomato relish just might bring back your childhood. Cold sandwiches like chicken salad and pole caught tuna put your hand-packed lunch to shame.
The Flatiron location (11 east 20th street) also serves diner in a low-lit setting tailored to a budget date night. It features a reasonably priced wine list and menu carefully chosen to reflect sophisticated comfort food: roasted beef short rib, pork cassoulet, sweet potato and goat cheese gratin.
In short, ‘Witchcraft serves exceptional food at grab-and-go prices. To all the free cookie monsters out there, get ‘em while they’re hot.
