The Carnegie Deli is New York City at its finest, it is a true New York City landmark. The relatively small ( considering it is an New York institution )but always crowded restaurant is something tourists shouldn’t miss, and locals should visit often. The abrasive waiters, their sandwiches which are bigger than a house, to the tables that you virtually have to share with strangers, it is a great Manhattan Style experience. It took me a few minutes to figure out if my Roast Beef sandwich was good, as it took me a while to figure out how to get it into my mouth. Once I did it was delicious, as was the coleslaw and fries. My friends Pastrami was also delicious, and way too much for one person to finish on their own. I would suggest sharing, but they hit you for a three dollar sharing charge. And during their peak hours they are pushing you in and out of there, but would you want or expect anything else from a New York eli? Carnegie Deli is often copied but never duplicated, everyone visiting New York should stop in and have lunch.
