Who was it who said, “If music is the food of love, play on?” Shakespeare, was it not? How very romantic! However, we lesser mortals do have to consider something more substantial than music to pacify our hunger pangs. How can there be love in your hearts if your stomach is rumbling? This Valentine’s Day let’s look at a few places that offer lovers special lunch or dinner deals in settings that are as romantic as they are elegant. Spend some quality time with your loved one accompanied by some fabulous food, vintage wines, and delectable desserts.

21 Club (21 West 52nd Street)

’21′ Club is offering a three course dinner along with a champagne toast for $160 per person. If you have eyes for anything beyond your date, you could admire the famous murals of the four New York landmarks made by artist Wynne Evans especially for upstairs at ‘21’. The service here is attentive, yet discreet, their wine list award winning, and the ambience perfect for romance. Make this one of your best Valentine’s ever.

Aureole (One Bryant Park, 135 West 42nd Street)

If you are in the mood to splurge a bit this year, this restaurant that has been rated a 5-Diamond AAA restaurant for the 13th consecutive year is your best pick. A five course prix-fixe dinner fit for kings is yours to be had for $145 per person ($100 wine supplement). It is located at the Bank of America Tower and under the leadership of Executive Chef Christopher Lee, you are guaranteed a mind-blowing experience for your taste buds.

Beppe (45 East 22nd Street, New York)

Romance under the Tuscan sun – that’s how it feels like at Beppe. If you want to trade the metropolitan feel of the city for the more rustic feel of being in a Tuscan farmhouse, go in for the four course meal being provided by master chef Marc Taxiera that’s priced at $75 per person. Should you like wine pairings with your meal, shell out an additional $20. Savor culinary delights like silky cauliflower and oyster soup topped with caviar, wild boar cooked in red wine and tossed with chocolate pappardelle, and classic banana split with rum-spiced warm bananas and homemade ice creams. Already drooling, are we?

Agave (140 Seventh Ave. South, New York)

The ceilings are spruce-fir-latticed and the flickering candles create an ambience that puts you in the mood for love. Enjoy some great Southwester food this Valentine’s Day with their special three-course menu. Along with this you also get a premium tequila tasting. All this for only $120 per couple! Quite a bargain, don’t you think?

Bun Soho (143 Grand Street, Soho)

This four course prix-fixe menu that also throws in specialty cocktails and desserts at just $45 per couple is probably the most affordable Valentine’s Day deal. This eatery opened up in 2007 and since then has been offering Vietnamese delicacies to its patrons. It’s stylish and elegant and it fits your budget too. Valentine’s Day couldn’t get any better than this.
