Everybody seems to have a thing for touch phones these days. If you look at the top selling phones of last year – Samsung Tocco Lite, and LG Cookie – they are both touch screens. If Samsung and LG are in the race for the top position, could Nokia be far behind? That’s why we have the 5530 – Nokia’s answer to both Samsung and LG. While it is no more expensive than its competitors, it offers quite a lot more than the other two phones. It has the highest resolution among all the phones in its class, a 3.2 megapixel camera, a superb music player with FM radio, and WiFi, to name just a few features.
When you take a good look at 5530, the first thing you notice is the great touch screen interface. You can use it with your fingers or with the stylus that comes with the phone. Both ways, it’s extremely responsive to use. To add to the experience of navigating through the controls of the phone is the high resolution of the display. At 2.9 inches, the screen has a resolution of 640 x 320 pixels and 16 million colors. Undoubtedly, it is the best screen in its class.
The home screen Nokia 5800 is easily customizable and you can access your favorite applications like Facebook, emails, music, etc. with just one touch. An interesting feature in this phone is that when you turn the phone on its side, the screen rotates, allowing you to use it in both portrait as well as landscape mode.
Since this model is part of the Nokia XpressMusic family, it becomes really important to examine the audio quality of the phone. In one word, it is impressive! The music player can support all popular music formats, and comes with an equalizer, not to mention the FM radio. There are two speakers in the phone, one at the top and one at the bottom. Together they provide excellent stereo widening and a 3D surround effect. Want more punch to your music – the phone comes with a bass booster and if you wish to upgrade the quality of your headphones, the 3.5mm audio jack allows you to do that as well.
The list of things that are great about this phone are virtually endless – 70 MB of built-in memory, a 4GB card supplied as standard, expandable up to 16 GB, excellent battery life with up to 27 hours of music playback time, excellent voice clarity and reception……like we said, the list could go on!
As a mid range phone, Nokia 5530 wows one and all. You cannot go wrong with this phone, if you are aiming at a phone with loads of features without burning a hole in your pocket.
