The Galaxy S is Samsung’s power packed response to the iPhone 4 that is creating massive waves in the smartphone market. It has loads of features and incorporates top end technology that rivals various other high priced phones in the market, including of course, the iPhone 4.
The most noticeable thing about the Galaxy S is the screen, which is clear, large, and delivers really sharp resolution. The contrast ratios are fabulous and the quality unbeatable. At only 118g, the Galaxy S is a light phone and the frame feels pretty good in your hands, even if it is a millimeter thicker than the iPhone 4. However, the difference is barely apparent owing to the curved back of the phone. The chrome bezel it sports looks quite nice too.
Yet another amazing feature about the phone is that you can cram up to 48GB of content in it. Virtually all the music you have, photos, videos can easily fit into this phone, leaving space for still more. This is one great portable media player to carry around with you.
Galaxy S gives you a pretty good keyboard as well. It is fairly sized and you can hit the keys quite accurately. Also, the Galaxy S is among the first handsets to use Swype – a highly intuitive way of interacting with a keyboard. All you have to do is slide your finger across the keyboard, and it connects the letters creating the words.
The camera on the phone is a little disappointing. The 5-megapixel camera isn’t poor by any means, but it isn’t as good as you would expect in a cellphone of the caliber and standing of the Galaxy S. After all, even Samsung Tocco Ultra edition offers a better camera to its users.
The Samsung Galaxy S uses a 1500mAh battery on board, which is among the largest on the market. What this means is that you have the best chance of maximizing battery life between charges. With average use of the phone, you can easily make it through the day, sometimes a day and half, too, without needing to charge the phone. However, if you browse the internet for too long or use the camera extensively, you will see a dip in battery life.
What’s our verdict? The Galaxy S is probably the best phone that Samsung has come out in a while. The build of the phone and its functionality speaks loud and clear. It is on the higher side of the spectrum price-wise but it delivers what it promises. It is well worth a look, in case you are looking for a new smartphone. It is one the way to becoming a real big hit in the market.
