The Samsung Tocco Lite is the junior most member of the Samsung Tocco F480 original and Tocco Ultra Edition S8300 upgrade, which have already been a huge hit among mobile users. Tocco Lite targets people who are interested in flaunting a touch screen phone and all the jazz that accompanies it, without having to pay that kind of price. True its name, Samsung Tocco Lite is light on the pocket.
Tocco Lite makes use of the familiar Samsung Tocco TouchWiz touchscreen user interface, that also brings with it finger tap-and-swipe control and on-screen widgets. It’s available in three colors – black, pink, and white, and offers a host of features that one has come to expect from all mobile phones – a 3.2 megapixel camera, music player, video recording, memory card slot, FM radio with RDS, and Bluetooth. It also provides easy access to YouTube and Facebook.
Samsung Tocco Lite comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera with Samsung’s special “Smile Shot” feature. Software in the phone allows you to edit the photos clicked by you on the camera itself. If you enjoy listening to music on your mobile, you are going to be very happy with the audio quality is good. Tocco Lite also comes with a virtual 3D surround effect, an equaliser and support for DNSe. Also, with an expandable memory up to 16GB you don’t need to keep track of how many songs you’ve uploaded into your mobile phone.
As far as connectivity goes, Tocco Lite supports USB and Bluetooth. The web browser is pretty good and the large screen provides easy access to RSS feeds, Google Mail, Google Search, and Google Maps. Sometimes, you miss the 3G facility which does affect the browsers download speed. However, since we realize that this is a budget phone and it packs in quite a few features otherwise, we are amiable towards a reasonable compromise!
Launched in direct competition with the best selling phone of 2009, LG Cookie, Samsung Tocco Lite seems to be virtually identical to LG Cookie. If you compare them physically, it is hard to point out any discernible difference between both – screen type, color definition, size, and pixels are all startlingly similar. Even though Tocco Lite has entered the scenes 6 months later than the Cookie, the price of the former is slightly higher than the latter. It remains to be seen whether it will be able to offer stiff competition to the already established LG phone model.
