In a season already faced with disappointment, the New York Knicks took another slap in the face by losing 113-93 to the lowly New Jersey Nets as Madison Square Garden.
New Jersey, who holds a NBA worst 7-55 win/loss record, has been an easy opponent for most NBA teams this season. However, on Saturday night, the Nets defeated the Knicks for the second time this year and 7th win of the year.
The Knicks seemed to be in control early on in the game when leading as much as 16 points late in the first quarter. However, the Nets made a season high 14 three pointers, and controlled much of the remainder of the game.
Courtney Lee of New Jersey led all scorers with 25 points, while David Lee of the Knicks led all New York scorers with 23 points.
The loss to New Jersey came only a day after losing in Toronto to the Raptors, who were missing their all-star forward Chris Bosh.
The disappointment of the back to back losses for the Knicks is something that several members of the Knicks were not anticipating. By facing a struggling Raptors team without their leader Bosh, and Nets team with only 6 wins prior to Saturday’s game, the situation might have looked too good to be true for a New York team that has lacked consistency this year.
Knicks look for better fortune when they host the Atlanta Hawks at Madison Square Garden tonight.
