The US Open Tennis Championships in Flushing Meadows, Queens, is one of the premier sporting events in the world. The two-week tournament is held every August and September at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
US Open Players compete in Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. CBS, USA Network, as well as many international networks will carry the action live as 2009 winner Juan Martin del Potro and 2009 Women’s champ Kim Clijsters return to defend his crowns.
Tennis matches occur during the day from 11 a.m. and at night at 7 p.m. Matches are held in several venues within the grounds of the USTA National Tennis Center.Arthur Ashe Stadium hosts the top-seeded matches and the finals and usually five matches per day at Ashe . Louis Armstrong Stadium has some reserved seating and also open seating for ground pass or other ticket-holders. The Grandstand is a smaller venue, open to anyone with a grounds pass or other ticket. Field courts throughout the grounds. These are a great chance to get real close to the action. In the first few days of the tournament, the field courts are simply the best places to watch tennis. The experience of being so close to the action is unparalleled.If you a real fan go to the early rounds you often get to see and meet players ,catch a practice match or pick up an autograph.
The Grounds Pass or Grounds Admission is a relatively cheap way to see a lot of tennis. Grounds Admission is only available the first eight days of the tournament, with access to matches held in the field courts, Grandstand, and portions of the Louis Armstrong Stadium. For a hearty tennis fan, that can mean five or more matches. The Grounds Admission, however, does not grant admission to Arthur Ashe Stadium.
